'Sail into Spring' Media City Cruise

A unique and relaxing way to see the sights of Manchester, Salford and Trafford from the water whilst enjoying a freshly prepared meal served at your table aboard our purpose built passenger and restaurant boats. You will be transported along Manchester’s waterways in comfort and style on this exclusive cruise.
This cruise departs from Castlefield, on the historic 250 year
old Bridgewater Canal. Sailing 'astern' we back out of the Staffordshire Arm under railway arches towards Merchants Warehouse with a view of Lock 92 which is the bottom lock of the Rochdale Canal. Then engines 'ahead' past Potato Wharf along the Bridgewater Canal, through Cornbrook Bridge to Pomona Lock. Here the boat is lowered about 14 feet (4.2 meters) into the old Pomona Docks famous for the cargo
boats from Dublin bringing in Guinness.
City Centre Cruises | 'Emmeline' sailing beneath The lowry Footbridge
City Centre Cruises | Lunch cruise - cabinNext, sailing downstream after passing beneath Trafford Road Bridge, the first view of Old Trafford, home of Manchester United Football Club is to be had. Then we have the panorama of Salford Quays. From here we get views of the spectacular waterside developments including Media City UK (the home of the BBC in the north), The Lowry and The Imperial War Museum - North.
With Salford, MediaCityUK and The Lowry complex on the right and Trafford with The Imperial War Museum - North on the left we pass underneath The Lowry Footbridge. The next bridge we sail under is the spectacular (especially when lit at night) Media City Footbridge, this is a swing bridge which was opened in 2011 at a cost of £11 million. On the Trafford side ITV-Granada are going to be located (2013) with the set for Coronation Street under construction here. City Centre Cruises | Salford Quays - The lowry - MediaCityUK
Turning at Mode Wheel Locks we then head back under both bridges before turning into the famous Dock No.9 from where there uninterrupted views of Media City UK. Then back upstream, returning via Pomona Lock and the Bridgewater Canal to Castlefield 2½ hours later.
