Excellent lunch We're writing on behalf of the Malvern 'Sixties' Rover-Ranger Group to thank you and your excellent crew for the most enjoyable trip on the LS Lowry, which you provided for us on the 13th April. Without exception everyone said how much they had enjoyed arriving at Salford Quays by boat and descending Pomona Lock onto the Ship Canal. We must especially thank you and your wife for providing an excellent lunch including the idiosyncratic dietry variations requested!! The Castlefield Hotel was perfect for our 'City Break' and whilst they happily acknowledged having little or no experience of looking after similar groups before, they provided everything we wished for and not the least, a very convenient embarkation point. Fresh and wholesome What a fantastic dining experience! I wasn't quite sure what to expect but what we got far exceeded our expectations. Well spaced tables beautifully laid with crisp linen. Though the menu choice was limited, the fayre was fresh and wholesome. The wine was well priced and a good selection too. Though night set in fast, the lights by the water were lovely. Friendly and courteous We had a very nice trip on the L S Lowry barge yesterday, from Castlefield to the War Museum. We were a party of six persons. Fantastic trip I booked the boat for our GP practice Christmas Party. We always have our party in January. I can only say it was the very best party we have ever had. The food, staff and ambience were outstanding. The sights of Manchester from the boat were fantastic. Thank you to all the staff, you made us feel very welcome and really looked after us. Repeat experience Cruising for 3 hours on the Bridgewater Canal and River Irwell on board the LS Lowry is a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday. Add to that add a 3 course Sunday lunch which is of an excellent quality followed by coffee and drinks makes the experience even more enjoyable, so much so that I have repeated experience on several occasions (the apricot tart was superb). A more relaxed pace of life Dinner aboard the L.S.Lowry is an experience I am not likely to forget. When I booked the boat for my 40th birthday I was concerned about the quality of food that could be prepared on such a boat. How wrong I was! The mushroom salad starter was simple but oh so effective with every ingredient bursting with freshness and flavour. The main course of poached chicken breast in white wine with asparagus was simply delightful, and everyone on board raved about for weeks afterwards. The dessert I had (there was a choice of fresh fruit salad or profitiroles) the profitiroles was fantastic. In all the cruise through Manchester was very enlightning seeing the city through new eyes.
